Francesca Woodman in In the Studio
Tate Modern, London
Through December 31, 2026

A selection of Francesca Woodman’s works from the Artist Rooms collection are part of Tate’s ongoing display In the Studio. Curated by Michael Wellen and Jess Baxter, this group of 10 Artist’s Rooms within the museum’s galleries focus on artists’ processes, thematic connections and perceptual experiences. Woodman’s choreographed performances in her studio—using props, gesture, and the camera—are shown alongside Belkis Ayón’s intricate collographs, Roy DeCarava’s chiaroscuro photos that reveal his extraordinary darkroom techniques, Joan Mitchell’s vast multipanel canvases painted in her open‑plan studio, and Mark Rothko’s somber, large‑scale paintings, among others.
