Francesca Woodman in Places to Dream
Kunsten Museum of Modern Art Aalborg
Aalborg, Denmark
through September 28, 2025

This September marks the final opportunity to view Places to Dream, an exhibition featuring photographs by Francesca Woodman alongside works by Cindy Sherman, Ana Mendieta, Birgit Jürgenssen, and Nan Goldin, among others. Organized by Kunsten Museum of Modern Art Aalborg in collaboration with Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, the exhibition brings together artists who confront and reimagine themes of identity, belonging, gender, body, race, social constructs and power through the shared medium of photography. “The works… don’t simply provide a place for dreams,” says curator Caroline Nymark Zachariassen. “They introduce us to new ways of looking at things, calling for action, confrontation, transformation and reflection. In their works, the artists provide us with an opportunity to dream with them, to draw inspiration, and reconsider our own position and place in the world.” Nineteen Woodman prints from the Louisiana’s collection are on display.
