Happy 71st anniversary to Betty Woodman and George Woodman, who were married on this day in 1953. They met two years earlier when Betty, after graduating from the School for American Craftsmen at Alfred University and returning to Boston, taught George in her evening pottery class. The couple exchanged vows at the Harvard Memorial Church and spent the following year in Cambridge while George completed his undergraduate degree at Harvard—before their artistic journeys led them westward from New England, where George would go on to attend graduate school for painting in Albuquerque and Betty would continue making functional pottery.
